چکیده

The recent outbreak of the southern corn blight is caused by race T of fIel1l1intlzosporiulIl lIlaydis, a species in the fungus genus Hel1l1intlzosporiU1I1 which consists of about 175 species, worldwide in distribution, on grasses. Three species of HellllintlzosporiulIl-H. lIlaydis, H. turciculIl, and H. carbonUIIl-attack corn and are placed in the genus Bipolaris.
